Resveratrol & Weight Loss

One of the most common problems in our society today is obesity. Obesity is not just a physical ailment but a psychological and emotional one as well. No matter who we are, we are always concerned about how we look. “Do I look good in this shirt?” “Do these jeans make me look fat?” We encounter these questions in our everyday lives. As a rotund character in one of the Austin Powers movies said it, “I’m unhappy because I eat. I eat because I’m unhappy.” Obesity is not just a state of being. It’s a cycle.

Obesity poses a problem psychologically. Self esteem is greatly affected by our outlook on ourselves and when we can’t project ourselves the way we ought to, self esteem just drops. Sometimes the only remedies people can think of is go to the nearest McDonald’s and eat their hearts away – literally. Fast foods, particularly in the United States are quite delectable and convenient. However, the convenience of fast food has a trade off in the form of transfat and LDL also known as bad cholesterol. These elements are very harmful to the body especially when taken in excess. In addition to being harmful, they also contribute to the increasing number of obese people, not only in the United States but across the world as well.

There is one anomaly in the obesity equation. France holds the record of the fattiest foods known to man. Pate, fois gras, olive oil, all these are so rich in fat it makes the chicken wings back in America look like health food! But the biggest mystery that boggles everyone until now is why the French are not as obese as Americans. The French eat 3 meals a day, often with multiple courses starting with the hors d’oeuvres going to the appetizers, the meats, soups and desserts. That’s a whole lot more than most of us order anywhere regardless of serving size!

How do they do it? Do the French have some sort of vortex in their stomachs that just zaps the food they eat into nothingness? The answer lies in a very simple answer: Red wine.

French meals, especially the ones with multiple courses are always accompanied by wine depending on the course. Appetizers often start of with white wine, Red wine for red meat, pork, and other fatty food like duck liver. The red wine is ALWAYS part of the meal.

Now, what in the world does red wine have that keeps the French looking slim? Not only that, with all the fatty food they eat, why do they manage to stay healthy? If you’ve seen the movie “Supersize me” in which the protagonist/documenter eats nothing but McDonald’s for one month, you’d realize how unhealthy foods with unsaturated fats are. In one month, he gained more than 10 lbs, and his liver became quite enlarged. Why doesn’t that happen to the French? Why doesn’t France have high cases of obesity, heart disease, cardiovascular disease and even cancer?

Weight Loss Smarts

Most people think that there is quick fix out on the market today that will help them lose all their weight and keep it off in a short amount of time. Weight loss is important to a lot of people, but when you finally decide to lose weight there are some tips that you will need to follow to make sure that it lasts for good. The first thing to remember is that it took a long time to put the weight on and you should be ready to put in some time if you want the weight to come off.

When setting up your plan here are some simple tips to follow. The first thing to know about eating right is that you need to cut all the junk out of your diet. This means that you need to get rid of foods that have added sugars or added oils to them. Another thing that you will have to cut out of your diet is fast food which may taste great, but it is not good for you! Instead, here are some things that you need to consider eating in order to lose weight properly:

• Fruits and vegetables
• Low fat dairy products (low fat or nonfat yogurt, low fat or nonfat cheese, Low fat or nonfat milk) or soy dairy products
• Whole grain products (try to avoid products unless they have 100% whole wheat or have if they have added sugars)
• Lean cuts of meats (chicken, turkey, buffalo, lean beef products)

After figuring out what to eat, it is important to remember portion size. You cannot just switch what you put into your body and expect to achieve results based upon that alone. One portion is usually the size of your palm and no thicker than a deck of cards. Without portion control no diet has the ability to give you the long-term results you seek.

We hope that you have enjoyed these brief sensible dieting tips and that they help you get on the path to healthier living. If you follow this eating plan, you will begin to see the benefits of losing weight. Remember that weight loss is not easy, but if you are determined you can take off the weight and keep it off for life.

Calotren? Weight Loss

When purchasing any weight loss product, it is important to do your research. Many people are exchanging their opinions about Calotren on DietBlogTalk.com

For an additional source, check out Calotren on the very popular Sensational.com

Overview

Calotren™ is a protein supplement designed to eliminate the need for stimulants by focusing on nutrition. Protein is a necessary nutrient for a normal functioning body. High protein diets are often linked to weight loss because of its ability to burn quickly as energy as opposed to being stored as fat. Calotren™ claims to be an all natural weight loss supplement that doesn’t contain stimulants, appetite suppressants, and causes no side effects. The makers of this product claim that it allegedly sustains muscle mass, supports joint strength, provides energy, and facilitates weight loss. Interestingly, according to the makers of Calotren™,  most people who experience energy from this product are underweight or active.

Ingredients at a Glance

According to the manufacturer of Calotren™ the main ingredient is their protein formula, otherwise known as Collagen, Oxygenated Water, Aloe Vera, Glycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Natural Raspberry Flavoring, and Methyl Paraben.

Ingredients in Focus

Collagen is a protein that has often been linked to cosmetic benefits. Recently, the diet industry has argued that it has powerful weight loss potential, though this is not a proven fact. In addition, it may preserve lean muscle mass and provide energy. More successful and better known protein supplementing, however, has been linked to the use of other types of protein. Soy protein has been linked to weight loss. Whey protein has been linked to muscle development and weight loss. Aloe Vera has been linked to good skin health. While this is not a skin treatment formula the idea is that smooth and toned skin should accompany weight loss. The other ingredients—Glycerin, Oxygenated Water, Glycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Natural Raspberry Flavoring, and Methyl Paraben—are for flavoring, texture, and taste.

Positives

• There are no stimulants in Calotren™.

Negatives

• Collagen is unproven as a weight loss supplement.

• This product must be taken on an empty stomach; no food must be consumed within three hours of taking this product.

• Calotren™ costs about $ 75 per 30 day supply.

Final Thoughts

The makers of Calotren™ have tried to create an effective weight loss supplement without stimulants. Several success stories from individuals using their product have been provided. They also indicate that their product is not intended to replace diet and exercise, but exercise and diet will enhance the effectiveness of the product. However, there is still no clinical evidence that Collagen is an effective weight loss supplement. Collagen use has proved successful in other areas such as beauty and cosmetics, but as far as weight loss, the necessary properties to facilitate weight loss are just not there.  Look instead for a supplement that uses ingredients to burn fat and control the appetite and you’ll be much further ahead.
