Yoga And Health

Yoga And Health .

Yoga is an ancient science, which leads to healthy body, peaceful mind, joyous heart and liberated soul. Whether you pursue yoga as a spiritual path or for its psycho-physiological benefits, yoga is a methodology for developing a deeper experience of your self and the world. And it makes you feel really good.Yoga makes you feel better. Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditation makes you healthier in body, mind and spirit.Yoga lets you tune in, chill out, shape up — all at the same time.
For many people, that’s enough of an answer. But there’s more if you’re interested.

For starters, yoga is good for what ails you. And that’s just the surface stuff. In fact, most of the benefits mentioned above are secondary to yoga’s original purpose. According to the yogis, true happiness, liberation and enlightenment comes from union with the divine consciousness known as Brahman, or with Atman, the transcendent Self.
The various yoga practices are a methodology for reaching that goal. In Hatha yoga, for example, postures and breathing exercises help purify the mind, body and spirit so the yogi can attain union.Pranayama breathing exercises help clear the nadis, or channels, that carry prana the universal life force, allowing prana to flow freely. When the channels are clear and the last block at the base of the spine has been opened, Kundalini rises through the spine, through the central channel called the sushumna-nadi, and joins the crown chakra.
According to the tradition, the release of Kundalini leads to enlightenment and union. Yoga gives us control of ourselves. It helps cut through the layers of miss-identities that arise in response to our actions, experiences and feelings. It calms the frenzy, clears the clutter and allows us to get back in touch with ourselves.Specifically, research shows that yoga helps manage or control anxiety, arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood pressure, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic fatigue, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, headaches, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, stress and other conditions and diseases. What more Yoga:
•Lowers fat.
• Boosts self esteem.
• Improves circulation.
• Reduces stress and tension.
• Stimulates the immune system.
• Improves concentration & creativity.
• Creates sense of well being and calm.
• Improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina.
• Postures and breathing exercises help purify mind, body & spirit.

Thyroid and Your Health

Thyroid disorder is one of the most common and often misdiagnosed health conditions affecting Americans. goitApproximately 58 million people suffer from some form of thyroid disease; unfortunately, these disorders often go untreated. While there are many disorders of the thyroid, the most common is related to abnormal thyroid hormone production. The thyroid gland produces and stores thyroid hormone (TH) that directly influences all of the metabolic processes, metabolism, and controls virtually every major organ system in the body. If the thyroid gland is not functioning correctly, whether overactive or underactive, the entire body and all of its systems are not functioning correctly.

Symptoms of Hypothyroidism (underactive) can include: goiter, infertility, weight gain or difficulty losing weight, depression, moodiness, fatigue, cold intolerance, dry skin (cracked heels), excessive dandruff, dry hair, hair loss, forgetfulness or trouble concentrating, muscle cramps, constipation, menstrual irregularities, infertility, slow heart rate and high cholesterol.

Many of these symptoms may be overlooked or associated with other medical conditions, resulting in an undiagnosed and untreated physical, life-altering illness.

While both men and women can experience various thyroid conditions, up to 25% of all women suffer from borderline thyroid conditions. Be aware of any subtle or persistent change in your health and discuss in detail with your physician.

Keep in mind, there are many highly effective treatment options for diagnosed thyroid conditions, as well as, excellent “preventive” supplements for slight or borderline underactive thyroid levels. Specific vitamins and minerals such as B-Vitamins, Zinc, Iodine, Copper, Manganese, Molybdenum, and L-Tyrosine are necessary for proper thyroid function. These supplements nourish and help maintain thyroid gland health, regulate the production of T3 and T4 hormones, and help relieve symptoms related to hypothyroidism.

While a healthy diet is an important factor in thyroid functions and levels, maintaining a healthy diet on a daily basis can be difficult. Seeking alternative supplements may be a wise choice for your continued health and wellness. As always, we encourage you to discuss your specific health needs and concerns with your physician.

Health Care Pr

For the health care industry, good, strategic PR has long been a necessity and today, its more interesting than ever to be involved in the process.

Misconceptions abound about the state and substance of health care in America. Health reform is changing the way the medical field does business. The needs of the aging boomer population will test the strength of public and private health care systems. For those reasons and others, establishing a constructive back-and-forth with key publics these days is especially challenging for hospitals, doctors, pharmaceutical companies and others whose life work is helping people heal.

At the same time, anecdotal evidence suggests that health care PR is a field thats growing in numbers and in depth.

The challenges of the past few years have trained a generation of health care PR practitioners. Many have had to learn to deal quickly and decisively with rumors, both the flash-in-the-pan type and the ones that persist. Others have learned how to communicate uncomfortable truths about the nature of the medical profession. A good number of health care PR practitioners have certainly learned about all the ways the political process influences medicine, knowledge that may prove to be useful for issues that come up in the future.

The public relations profession includes many highly-qualified firms and individuals passionate about helping health care organizations find their voice. Some people are highly motivated by the work because they feel they are helping organizations that save lives; others choose the specialty because they are fascinated by the science and technology involved in healing the human body; yet others appreciate the job security inherent in certain health-related fields. Whatever is motivating its practitioners, its safe to say that health care PR is a growing and exciting field thats attracting top talent. Thats good news for health care organizations because, while communicating is getting trickier, more and more PR professionals are excited to take on the challenge.

And the situation is expected to get better. By some estimates, the number of available health care PR jobs is expected to expand by about 30 percent in the near future. Students in undergraduate and graduate communication programs are being encouraged to specialize in health care PR because of all the opportunities that field provides and because the skills developed through working at, say, a pharmaceutical company can be very useful to other employers as well.
