weight loss

I want to introduce you to a powerful tenet which gives rise to whatever it is you’re trying to achieve with your body is not external, yet contained within your mind. The key to losing weight is determined by how you attach meaning to it – the thoughts and emotions associated with it. Weight loss implies removing something unwanted or undesirable i.e. excess body fat. What if we re-framed it in our minds as an expression which affirms the following instead; allowing our body to return or ‘be’ in its natural state of health and wellbeing. How would that allow us to feel from an emotional level?

You see the term weight loss has a resistance to it, much like ‘rally against war.’ I stand for peace is much more harmonious and in tune with higher states of consciousness. Weight loss implies you haven’t achieved it yet, it is outside of your consciousness and a challenge to achieve. Your natural state of health and wellbeing is a body weight that is normal to you. You don’t need diets, pills, formulas and whatever else the media is selling you to lose weight.

Fact 1: The power of drug companies has grown exponentially. They now fund about two-thirds of clinical studies and medical journals have increasingly become marketing devices for new products and diagnoses.

Fact 2: Studies by industry are subtly funded to give positive results. The same research will be published again and again in different journals, with minor variations, to give the impression of a unanimous acceptance and weight of evidence.

So what can you do to change the relationship and conversation you have with yourself around body weight issues?

1. Throw away all your dieting books NOW.
2. There is no problem, just an imbalance in one’s thoughts and emotions.
3. Go within to discover the cause of your current weight issues. Is there an outdated belief, thought or emotion which is holding you back? If so, when did it start? Go within and take a introspective journey to discover the cause. We often attach meaning to things which no longer serve us.
4. Be grateful that you live in a Western world and have access to food. Approximately 3 billion people live below $ 2.50 a day, which is considered the poverty line.
5. Re-frame how you approach weight loss in your mind and your body will follow.
6. Appreciate your body right now, regardless of shape, size, colour, height, weight. If you dislike or hate your body, you’re sending subconscious messages to every cell in your body to work against you, not in harmony with you. Why would your body want you to lose weight when you’re telling it I hate you, I don’t like what I see in the mirror?
7. Develop a relationship with your body as mentioned in previous article.

A well known author versed in the area of mind body medicine states the following about weight loss: “Health is not an event. It is a process. It is not a rock, but rather a river. Lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise can address systematic problems, but involve a change in life-process day after day. Weight loss isn’t going on a diet (an event), or being twenty pounds lighter (an event). Weight loss is what I eat and how I exercise today and always (a process).

The more you come from a place of non-resistance, the more your body recognises your willingness to grow and expand toward health and wellbeing. Remember this for it will serve you well – your health and wellbeing is a journey, never a destination. It is more about WHO you become, more than WHAT you become. It is for this reason I affirm health, wellbeing and healing is more about awakening your authentic self, using personal development, self awareness and spirituality. With these tools in hand, you become someone worthy of living a rich, health and prosperous life; without having to fall back to their former self.

Weight Loss

The mechanics of weight loss is simple; energy lost must be greater than energy gained. You gain energy from the various foods and other nutritional supplements you consume; you lose energy through regular everyday activities, even breathing. The problem is a body at rest or doing regular activities does not utilize most of the energy that is consumed from the average American diet. The result is weight gain. All that extra energy is converted to fat and stored for later use, the problem is, that fat will sit there and keep building up and it has nowhere to go. The solution, we need to get our bodies in a state of negative energy balance, increase our metabolism or decrease our food intake so that we lose more energy that we gain.

Basically, we want to increase how much work our body does, so exercise is key. Running, swimming, jogging or going to Gym for strength exercises are all ways in which you can increase your metabolism and reduce your weight. On another hand you can reduce the amount of food you consume; if you eat less this will also lead to a negative energy balance. Choosing healthier foods will make this route easier, switching from fatty to more protein based foods will enable your body to maintain a good energy balance and prevent any excess energy from being converted it unhealthy fat. Bear in mind that healthy weight loss will not come from one or the other alone, but a balance between the two. Only eating less and no exercise is very harmful and does not do much for healthy weight loss. After a point, your body will go into starvation mode and start feeding off muscle instead of fat resulting in undesirable weight loss. Exercise that results in weight loss without changing dietary habits will put too much strain on your body and the benefits will not be worth the pain and medical bills.

Balance is key, find the magic number that gives you the right amount of food and exercise. This will result in healthy weight loss that will be beneficial to you in the long run. Set realistic goals and spread them out across a moderate time frame in order to give your body a healthy head start. I would not recommend crash dieting or intermittent fasting as they tend to cause irreversible damage to your body. Yes they result in rapid weight loss but some of the side effects include ulcers, muscle loss and increased hunger that may cause you to eat more after you have completed them.
If you have problems sticking to a diet or exercise regime, consult a dietician or a trainer to help you reach your weight loss goal the healthy way. Many gyms have trainers that will help you design an exercise schedule that is right for you, they will also tell you what to eat and what to stay away from. Remember to always consult your doctor before you drastically change your diet or exercise habits.

Weight Loss

Weight loss takes two forms, intentional and unintentional. Unintentional weight loss usually occurs in diseases underlying in your body, like diabetes, for instance. Meanwhile, intentional weight loss is the more popular form, which happens when you need to get rid of the excess fats in your body. Losing weight can be achieved in many forms, such as going through diets and going to the gyms regularly. You will not be able to lose weight with just random dieting and exercising. You need to religiously do both things to achieve the desired result you need.

Diets that are known to be effective and popular among celebrities are liquid diet and low-calorie diet, to name a few. What is important is you know that the right food you take helps you lose weight and gives you the right nutrition needed for your body. You can either do your own research for an effective weight loss diet or hire a personal dietitian to help you monitor your diet.

In addition, therapeutic weight loss is a form of losing weight while decreasing the likely chance of developing diseases such as diabetes, heart ailments, high blood pressure, and other types of cancers. However, there is also an easier but more expensive way of losing that flabby abs of yours. You might choose to like tummy tuck, a form of plastic surgery which removes unwanted skin and fats in your abdominal area. This can also help you regain your former body that is either disfigured by pregnancy or obesity; but before you undergo your surgery, you must make sure the surgeon has proven years of training and expertise in plastic surgery.

Weight loss can also be achieved by constantly visiting the fitness centres. There are a lot of weight loss exercises and toning exercises that you can utilize in the gyms, such as Swiss ball exercises or gym ball exercises, which help work out the major muscles in your body. They help you tone your abs and ease the pain in your lower back. They also improve your flexibility and strength. They are also great for warming up activities and stretching before you proceed to a more serious form of weight loss exercise. Another form of toning the abs and reduce those flabby abs is through sit-ups and aerobics.

You can find the list of gyms near you through Services Ireland Directory or SID, an online directory that provides the Irish businesses and customers the services they need. You can search in their web portal by typing keywords in their search box such as gyms Dublin, if you want to find gyms in Dublin. You might find gyms like Arena Leisure in Tallaght and Herbeton Leisure. Arena Leisure offers one-on-one programmes, personal training, fitness assessments, and sports nutritional supplements for your weight loss needs. They also have a fully-equipped gym and two exercise class studios that will let you enjoy your exercise experience. They also offer aqua aerobics. Herbeton Leisure, on the other hand, also has a fully-equipped gym with cardiovascular and resistance equipments, free weights area, spin studio, and aerobics.
