I’ve lost 100 lbs, without knowing where the weight went. This talk is very
interesting, but “eat less move more” is not something people don’t know.
The question I have, that I think most fat people have, is “How do I get
through the day feeling like I’m starving to death without eating too
much?” Or “How can I be happy and feel good while miserable and lethargic
from hunger?” The question is almost an oxymoron. It’s almost like asking
“How do I cool down as I’m setting myself on fire?” or “What’s the best way
to fall asleep while riding a roller coaster and drinking a latte?” The
question is absurd and has absurd answers. “Eat so you don’t feel that
way.” Well of course that causes the diet to fail. So it’s a non-answer.
There doesn’t seem to be an answer outside of doing mood altering drugs
that make you feel good no matter what else is happening. So we as fat
people apparently have the option of feeling good, OR losing weight, but
not really both. Since most of us choose to feel good, that would explain
why most diets fail. But if someone can discover a real answer to that
question, I think weight loss will become profoundly easier.
This should be renamed: “The Chemistry of Weight Loss.”
In the end he told us what everyone already knows, eat less and exercise.
I dont think our fat cares if we know the physiological process or not.
This is the kind of joke that will never make it to a real TED. He is wrong
in everything he says.
At the end, doesn’t he mean low-carb diets?
‘Cause he’d just been talking about Ketosis (which in my understanding, the
diet that induces this is low-carb, high fat and and has a reasonable about
of protein).
How does eat less make more CO2 ?? I do get when do exercises yes
Wait, Carbon Dioxide dissolves in water? I didn’t realize that!…Not to
change the subject but what are they telling us about climate
change???????? Hummmmmm! Ir is it Carbon Monoxide that cause climate
change?
this reminds me something that happened to me many years ago. when me and
my ex were living together (before we got married). one day we met in the
cinema and he mentions that he bought something. when i asked him what it
was, he said: “you’ll see it later” i didn’t quit asking questions like,
“is it for the house?,” “yes” he said; “is it for the bedroom?” “no.” “is
it for the kitchen?” “yes.” but still he didn’t say what it was. later, the
movie began and i forgot about it. half the movie went and there was a
scene of a library exploding and all the books in it. the following scene
was an explosion of a fridge. then i said: “oh! it’s a cooking book!” and
it was. nice how our mind makes connections in random situations. XD
Best weight loss explanation I’ve ever heard!
The part about climate change is just BS. Of course technically fat loss
causes climate change. A big part of climate change is about CO2 in the
atmosphere. The opposite we call “sequestered”, meaning it being stored
“somewhere”. Whether as carbohydrates in plants, as fossil material
underground, or as animal mass is irrelevant. Converting any sequestered
material back into gas is contributing to rising co2 levels, and thus
reducing the amount of heat we lose into space. Same for the whole diet
unlogic he spouts. Sure, if you completely ignore that some metabolic ways
are less efficient than others, great. But the whole point of different
diets is to either change the amount of accessible energy per mass of food,
or change the amount of energy you waste on freeing the energy you want to
use. Just ignoring that step and telling people of for not knowing the
basics is quackery.
Excellent video. Using science to understand how the body Works. And use
the same science to manipulate our bodies.
This is a fantastic presentation. I would have loved to have this man as a
teacher.
I was really hoping he would do the math on the average number of breaths
taken in a day vs food intake to show the upper bounds on weight loss… :(
Weight loss is most definitely a result of eating less and moving a little
more. From my own observations, it seems as though the major problem people
undergo with weight loss is due to impatience. Weight loss does take time,
but it is well worth the wait. This comment is a reminder to anyone who is
currently lowering their body fat percentage to be persistent and to
simplify the process. You will achieve your goal, try to be understanding
of your body and the time it needs. The body takes its time.
Carbon dioxide and water ?
If only it was really that simple, but clearly it isn’t. So many have
tried and failed that very straightforward manner of losing weight and
getting healthier and get…nowhere. For me as a type 1 diabetic (life
long), losing weight is a bit of a nightmare and, as of yet, I have not
found that (oh so simple) method of diet and exercise that allows me to
maintain a healthier weight. Like you, I’m not trying to lose massive
amounts of fat. A few Kg and I’d be a very happy chickie, but ’tis not be
as I can so plainly see – every time I look in the mirror.
Cool talk everyone should watch this before doing another fad diet
Really cool concept, but I’ve got one question.
Fat is broken down for the purpose of producing ATP. In the process of
producing ATP (as described in the Krebs Cycle) fat never actually breaks
down into CO2 and H2O, but is broken down into various other molecules to
eventually produce ATP.
How did he arrive at the equation where fat gets broken down into CO2 and
H2O? Is there any bio energetics expert out there that can help me out?
Driving me crazy trying to figure it out.
at 12:40 he mentions that you cannot turn atoms into pure energy in
chemistry. Would this be necessarily true on a quantum level? I can imagine
a tiny portion of the heat and energy that occurs in the biochemical
reactions originating from e=mc^2 on a subatomic level (meaning subatomic
particles being converted into the low amounts of heat and energy). Is this
true? Anyone with a physics degree wanna chime in?
If you are looking to burn fat, you should google Fat Blast Furnace. That
might help you get the body you deserve.
that’s why Yoga KapaalBhati works!
Fuck that was boring and long-winded and, in the end, quite useless
information. Who gives a shit where that fat goes? Everyone already knows
that to lose weight you need to move more and eat less. Why not come up
with a scientific formula for keeping the weight off long term? Now that
would be appreciated by many people the world over as it is our biggest
challenge in Public Health right now.
Summary: eat less, move more and keep breathing to lose weight
You have the power to motivate people now..Alot of people are out there
going through the same shyt you been through
This last part was pretty hard for me to get out : /…. Some of the things
i said in here you all are the first to ever hear them. I hope you guys
have liked, and enjoyed my weight loss story, and I hope that it can help
you if you are struggling! All i want is to show that this is possible, and
hopefully inspire and motivate anyone out there that wants to make a
change! Always feel free to ask any questions you have!
First! I win
This is seriously amazing
Vince G should see this
Your story has been absolutely incredible to follow the past couple of
weeks and your progress is astounding. I’m working on turning my own tides
at the moment. After having lost about 95lbs in college mostly due to diet,
I’ve managed to gain about 45 of it back from transitioning to career life
and adulthood, but I am determined to reach my goals. I can definitely
relate to a lot of the darker, less cheery parts of your story, but really
found a place of self love and appreciation through running (including
sobbing uncontrollably through the middle parts of my first marathon). Your
fire has helped refuel my own, and probably many others, and I cannot wait
to continue watching your progress as it develops!
this was such an important video hope more people see it not to sound
preachy or crazy or anything but to lose weight you have to have everything
in order your mental state, spiritual, and physical because along the way
you are going to lose friends and get the “you need to not take that so
seriously” “you are changing” “nobody likes a bone” “he/she think she all
that” and insert phrase from someone who may think they are helping. The
only constants have been my dog, my parents, the pastor at the church who
noticed I am slimming down, and one friend. When you change you have to be
ready to let go of everything for what you want new things will take its
place you just have to hang in there
Dude! I am speechless! I want to give you a massive hug! Not just to tell
you how glad I am that you are doing so awesomely after such a harrowing
time, but to thank you so much for sharing! I can definitely relate to that
dark times, and have felt the same myself many times, but to see you turn
it all around and come out the other side in such a blaze of glory is
utterly breathtaking! You may have at one point thought that no one loved
you, but I can tell you right now that I love you man! Seriously, like a
brother, for sharing your story and being such a beacon of hope not just
for me but for tons of people and the thousands of people I’m sure will
find your channel in the coming months! I have the utmost admiration and
respect for you bro and SO happy things are going so great! You deserve
every ounce of it!
Amazing Journey! Thank you for sharing your story with us! You are really
motivating and inspiring!
I love you bro!
I have enjoyed watching your channel so far. I have gone threw a similar
transformation myself from 440 Pounds down to 237. Yesterday I had a really
bad binge session tho. This video was just the right time for me super
motivated to get back to the grind. It’s nice to know that I’m not alone in
the struggle. Thanks
Hey man, you f*cked up,… more important, you took controle of the
situation and started to fix it…nobody jumps to the top of mount
everest…one step at the time…keep on going you will get there and don’t
be afraid to ask for help…you never walk alone…
Awesome video, I have been wondering to hire Mr. Jhones. About you:
congratulations my friend so motivational!
Ben, thank you for sharing this brother….and for being so open and
candid. Some of those same thoughts and actions have been part of my
journey too. Look how you’re being used now! You’re here for a purpose,
my friend. A true inspiration and an amazing example. You’ve always got
my support! +Fat Meets Fire
Thank you so much for sharing man. I was in such a really dark place about
a year ago, it was extremely tough and being away at college made it that
much harder, I just felt like I was so far from the person I wanted to be
physically, mentally, emotionally. I ended up returning home and looking at
myself in the mirror (50lbs heavier) and that was when I decided to change,
this was about 8 months ago and this was when I made the decision to get
healthy for the purpose of becoming the best version of myself that I can
be. I’ve never looked back and while I’m no longer at the school I was at
(working on transferring) I am much happier than I have ever been. Thank
you so much for sharing honestly.
You’re a fuckin sickcunt bro. Much respect
Why is somebody cutting onions near my laptop :/ Ahh, I love this. The
journey we set is hard, extremely hard, but when you get the right
inspiration through stuff like this it makes you take that first step. Oh
and next time you’re in Jax lets hit a workout, I’m in SSI/Brunswick.
Great vid dude, glad you are ok now :)
You’re a superstar man! Not just because of your hard work, but because
your honesty. It is a never ending challenge for us all but we build the
strength to handle the challenge much more gracefully.
Your body is a reflection of your mind, if you want to change your body you
first have to change your mind
mirin the dbz shirt brah
Thanks for sharing your story with us. I’m actually just climbing out of my
funk. I lost 99.6lbs. and then fell in to a depression where I gained about
50lbs. back. It’s bizarre how 1 cheat meal can throw you down for months at
a time. It seems, when this happens to me, I always forget that the cheat
meal/feast was just one meal and tomorrow is a new day, a new beginning,
but instead I usually just keep eating and eating. I’ve had very similar
feelings like you’ve had. I thought maybe I was alone in that, but I’m not
and neither is anyone reading this. Thanks again for sharing your story. It
will transform so many to re-light their fire.
Hey, I am also with Chris for macro coaching. I have been hitting the
numbers week by week and seeing awesome results. But, I had a past of binge
eating and did it last week and I thought I was some freak who I didn’t
have anyone to relate to. Man, your story is helping me out some much. +1
sub from me, have an awesome day man.
Thanks for sharing your story.
Brandon.
I just wanna say that you are truly inspiring! So many people out there can
relate to you, and it’s a relief to know that there are people like you
they can turn to for inspiration to keep going! Keep it up! You are
amazing!
Truly inspiring that you got threw your bad times.I know I’ve had mine and
its hard.I thank you for Sharing this.I know it will help others who are
going threw the same thing.I dont know how you do it sharing stuff about
your life because thought of me doing that Scares the shit outta me lol
